Southwold on Fuji Pro400H

Looking towards Southwold from the pier

It's been a while since I last used Fujifilm PRO400H. Although I typically shoot with Kodak's Portra 160/400 film stock, I recently became interested in giving PRO400H another try. I've seen some amazing pastel shades achieved by other photographers with this film stock, and given the recent news in the film photography community that it may soon be discontinued, I thought it was a good opportunity to grab a box before it's gone.

It was bright and sunny Sunday morning, so I I made my way to Southwold early to beat the crowds. Southwold has to be one of my favourite spots on the coast. Like my hometown of Aldeburgh, it has its own unique charm that just draws you in. Armed with my Fujica GW690, I shot two rolls of film before returning home for lunch. Monday followed and off they went to Filmdev in Stockton-on-tees.

The scans were back with me on Friday, and I have to say that I am liking the results. There is certainly a difference in tones when compared to Portra, but I like how it just lifts certain colours, especially reds, greens, and blues. I will no doubt be ordering some more whilst it’s still available.
