Pinney’s of Orford
Pinney’s of Orford are a 3rd generation family run business that devote themselves to offering top quality smoked products.
After visiting their smokehouse in March with Fishers Gin to assist in some imagery for their smoked gin launch, I was truly delighted to be invited back by Jodie Pinney to provide some content for their website and social media that assists them in telling their story and showing what goes on behind the scenes.
Situated on the Butley Creek in Suffolk, the smokehouses are those of the founder, Richard Pinney. The method that is used to smoke the fish is very traditional in the sense that they only use whole oak logs to produce their smoke, and other than salt, no further ingredients are included to flavour and preserve. The result of this is a product that is simply delicious and full of flavour.
A strong emphasis is placed on the sourcing of all their products. Their vast knowledge and expertise allow for many factors to be taken into consideration when sourcing stock, and this assures that only the best fish is obtained.
Pinney’s also ensure that low impact methods are used to preserve the environment, along with consideration for local fish stocks, restoring oyster beds and using a very traditional means to fish.
You will find a full range of fresh and smoked fish, not to mention loads of other delicious local produce at the Pinney’s shop, situated by the quay at Orford. If you are unable to visit the store in person, then you can order online via their shop.
A big thank you to everyone at Pinney’s for having me down the smokehouse once again.
