LPOTY 2023 Coastal View Winner
Back in February, I submitted a selection of images to compete in the prestigious Landscape Photographer of the Year competition. My journey in this competition had started back in 2020 when I was shortlisted but sadly went no further. However, with a good range of new images taken since then, I figured that I would give it another shot.
Weeks passed, and I had an email hit my inbox to say that one of the images I’d submitted had made the shortlisted. I submitted a high resolution version of the chosen image along with a document outlining my post processing. A month or so later, on a particularly early morning, I checked my inbox to see an email stating that my image had made the book and I was invited to the awards ceremony in Octopus Books HQ in London. A venue with a beautiful rooftop view of the River Thames.
As the evening of the awards ceremony unfolded, I was filled with a mix of anticipation and uncertainty. I speculated that perhaps I would receive a commendation or a high commendation for my image. But when I heard my name called out as the winner, I was thrilled! I couldn’t stop smiling on the train journey back home.
With around 17,000+ people entering the competition this year, it was a real honour to win an award for one of the categories, and having an image recognised as part of a competition like LPOTY has really upped my confidence in my work and made me look towards entering more competitions in the future.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the judges for recognising and selecting my work.
