The Festival of Classic & Sports Cars
There's a distinct thrill when it comes to the world of classic and sports cars that's hard to encapsulate with mere words. Whether it’s the sound of engines revving, the gleam of meticulously restored paintwork, or simply the palpable nostalgia for eras gone by. All of these things come together to create an atmosphere unlike any other, every year at the beautiful Helmingham Hall in Suffolk. Over 8,000 cars attended last year, with a similar amount, if not more this year, creating a living tribute to Britain's motoring pinnacle. The event showcases esteemed marques like Alvis, Bristol, Jensen, AC Riley, and more.
Having not attended this show for what must be 7 or 8 years, it was so good to be back! As someone that’s more of a landscape photographer, immersing myself in the vibrant realm of The Festival of Classic & Sports Cars was a slight departure from the norm. Though unbeknown to many, my initial reconnection with photography actually gravitated towards motorsport and automotive, mostly due to being part of a couple of local car clubs and attending a fair few events across the UK. This included track days at the Top Gear track at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey and Silverstone.
After a hiatus of several years from attending, let alone engaging in any automotive photography, I'm really content with the images that I've managed to capture upon my return. Given the bustling nature of the event, I opted to shift my focus towards nuances of details, shapes, and colours across the various vehicles.
